Under COVID-19, businesses should make possible arrangements to maintain a safety and clean workplace for their staff. It is important to make possible measurements and guidelines to minimize the COVID-19 challenge at workplace. Here are advices for the Logistics and Warehouse businesses:
- Wear a Mask
It is important that every staff should wear a mask properly in all workplaces (indoor or outdoor), including performing hand hygiene before wearing and after removing a mask.
- Practise Hand Hygiene
Perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes. Wash hands with liquid soap and water, then rub for 20 seconds. If hand washing facilities are not available, performing hand hygiene with 70-80% alcohol-based hand rub is an effective alternative.
- Increase the Frequency of Cleaning
Increase the frequency of surface cleaning of equipment, tools, machines, racks, handles of forklifts, buttons of elevators and handheld devices etc. Clearing workplace and removing waste at the end of a shift.
- Temperature Check
Ensuring everyone should pass through a temperature check before entering a specific area of workplace.
- Enough Space for Meals
Provide enough space for staff having meals. May use screens or barriers to separate people from each other.
- Review Workflow
Keep a safe distance for every staff. Redesigning workflow to reduce the risk of transmission among each other. Businesses should consider whether that activity needs to continue for the business to operate, and if so, keeping the activity time involved as short as possible.
- Seek Early Medical Consultation
Staff are advised to seek medical advice promptly when feeling unwell (even if having very mild symptoms only). Ensuring them to stay at home and do not attend the workplace.
Enable staff to work from home while self-isolating. It applied to who have symptoms of COVID-19, live in the same building with those tested positive for COVID-19, in a close relationship with the infected one or those who are advised self-isolate.
